How does CareTech's CarePhone Work?
By wearing a necklace, wrist pendant or belt clip, in the event of requiring assistance, you need only press the button on the pendant. This then activates the CarePhone dialler and a two-way voice link is established between yourselves and your nominated responder. Either friends, family or a Care Centre manned 24 hours by trained nursing staff can be your nominated responder. They can then assess the situation and take any necessary action.

How far can I be from the CarePhone when I push the Pendant?
The range of pendants vary depending on the construction of your home. In most cases pendants have a minimum range of 50 metres in open space (per Australian Standards). CareTech will test your unit during installation and if further distance is required CareTech has a range of radio repeaters that can extent your coverage dramatically. So if you love the Garden you can still feel secure.
Can I wear my Pendant in the Shower and Bath?
The CareTech pendant can be worn at all times including in the shower, bath and swimming pool. Your pendant will also test itself regularly to make sure the battery is functioning and report any problems back to the monitoring centres - automatically. This help provide more peace of mind
What Medical Alarm Phone Systems do Caretech sell?
CareTech offers a range of Products its CarePhone is designed for the Home Care industry with emergency call pendants and medical alarm dialers. CareTech also offers a full range of nurse call medical alarm systems, Caretech concentrates on the Smartcall product range from Caretech in Sweden. These are the Smartcall 5000 for Nurse Call medical alarms in in hospital and nursing homes.
What warranties are offered on Medical emergency telephone and other NurseCall systems?
All Smartcall products are warranted against normal failure as follows -12 month return to supplier full parts and labour warranty on portable products and 24 month on site maintenance on installed systems (we believe this is unique). Caretech offers 12 months on all other products.
Is my medical alarm pendant waterproof?
All CareTech emergency call pendants are IP64rated (fully waterproof alarm pendant) this means that you are allowed take them in the shower or a bath you may go swimming and if the medical alarm telephone is further than 30 meters from the swimming pool then you may require a signal booster. Our Emergency Call Pendants are designed to never be taken off this increases the security factor for you home pendant emergency alarm system.
What is the difference between a Medical Alarm Dialer and a Medical Alarm Phone?
A medial Alarm dialer is not a telephone it has no numbers but can call a list of preprogrammed emergency numbers once the alarm has been activated. A loud speak and microphone is activate so yo may talk hands free with the emergency number dialled.
What is an emergency call button is this a call pendant?
An emergency call button can be worn around your neck and this is normally called a pendant but CareTecg also offers the possibility to wear these on your wrist like a watch or on a belt.

Do Caretech maintain any other brands of nurse call systems?
Caretech have maintained other brands of nurse call systems such as Austco Callguard, Tunstall Communicall, Clinicall, Newline and Lightcall and the Tunstall range of alarm telephone units. Also the Xacom i-Care nurse call and Quickpage Plus paging systems and the Smartlink alarm telephone units. Caretech have also repaired other Nurse Call System brands such as Gladstone, Minicom and Smartcaller but there are some problems obtaining parts.
Do Caretech hold spare parts in Brisbane?
CareTech have stocks of all parts for all their medical alarms and nurse call systems. These are stored in quantity in the warehouse in Brisbane. Larger quantities are available from Sweden or the manufacturing plant directly from China within 30 days.
Are the Caretech Nurse Call and other products Australian standards approved?
The Smartcall range of products meet all international and Australian standards and use the N-Tick approval number N10437.
How long has Caretech been in the Nurse Call System business?
Caretech AB in Sweden has been designing and building nurse call systems both voice and non-voice hardwired and radio for in excess of 25 years. Caretech Systems Pty Ltd has been the exclusive distributor of Caretech Nurse Call system products in Australia and New Zealand for 6 years.
Can Caretech design a Nurse Call System especially for my particular application?
Yes Nurse Call Systems and other specific Call and Duress System can be designed to fit most specific applications.
Does the Smartcall Nurse Call System come with battery back up and alarm call logging?
The battery back up, distributed power and computer logging and reporting of all alarms including fire and paging are standard features of the Nurse Call Systems. The full CareTech Medical Alarm Dialer and phone range include back batteries and and system falsh log with the last 30 events stored.
What is a lightcall or Light call system?
A lightcall system is simply a nursecall system this uses the over door lights to attract the nurse or care workers attention. What is the diffrence between a Medical Alarm Dialer and a Medical Alarm Phone?
Medical Alarm Dialers and Medical Alarm phones and Emergency Call Telephones are in fact the same thing. Most of the products have different features but fundamentally the same scope in the event of an emergency where assistance is require the Medical Alarm Dialer, Medical Alarm phone or Emergency Call Telephone will initiate a call to a third party for assistance. This can be to a relative on a private phone number or directly to a Medical Alarm Call Centre where action is then taken.
What is an emergency call button is this a call pendant?
An emergency call button is reffering to the push button on the alarm pendant worn around your neck. This could also mean the alarm button on the medical alarm phone locate near the normal home telephone used to dial either a fmaily member or a care centre when help is required.
Can Caretech supply specialized products such as bed alarms, floor mats, and contact alarms for the disabled and wandering patient systems?
Standard to our product range are bed alarms with timers for allowing out of bed for WC visits, chair alarms, floor mats, toilet alarms, pull cords, radio pendants, contact alarms for quadriplegics and door alarms for wandering patients using door loops and wireless radio medical alarm buttons and pendants.
Can the Smartcall systems be maintained remotely?
The Smartcall 5000 system includes the Omni card which allows for connection to your computer network and allows for remote access via the internet. The system can be reprogrammed or maintained remotely. The Medical Alarm Dialler can be remotely programmed via the telephone line either by computer or via a touchtone telephone.
